DARS Report
Artifact Description
Another artifact that I have included to represent Standard 1 is my DARS report. The DARS, which stands for Degree Audit Report, provides a detailed itemized list of the courses I completed to achieve my degree and specifies which goals were met by those courses. The grades I received for each course are also listed within the report.
AnalysisI chose to include my DARS as an artifact for Standard 1 because it illustrates my efforts in gaining knowledge of subject matter to prepare myself for teaching. My courses included general education and content specific courses that together have provided me a solid foundation in my understanding of the various aspects of subject matter. The courses that were specific to my teaching program were very rich in the content that was taught and helped me develop the skills I need for my teaching career. Some of these skills are tapping into students' prior knowledge, using varied viewpoints, theories, and methods of inquiry when teaching subject matter, and engaging students in learning that integrates multiple learning styles and strengths.

SynthesisIt is difficult to go into great depth in such a short period of time about each field, therefore, I intend to continue using the resources I received from these courses as guides. From the textbooks, many of which I kept, I can continue learning in greater detail about the courses and subjects that I completed.
While I did well in each course and received good grades, I understand that there is so much more to be learned. My instructors always provided advise on ways that I can improve and I thrive on that feedback. I hope to always receive constructive feedback from my professors, colleagues, and even students. I have much to learn, but I also have an encouraging start. |
